Can a customer see their own invoices?
Yes, through the customer portal, which is a separate capability. You switch it on per customer and hand them a password; they then sign in to see their invoices and the payments recorded against them, view and accept or decline estimates, and message you with photos and files. They cannot pay from the portal — paying by card happens on an invoice’s share link — and they cannot see anything you have not marked visible to them.
What a customer can do once signed in
Section titled “What a customer can do once signed in”- See their invoices and open any one of them, including the payments recorded against it, and download the PDF.
- See their estimates, download them, and accept or decline one, which is recorded against the estimate on your side.
- Take part in the message thread on a job: post messages, upload photos and files, and raise a request for a revision, a document or a confirmation.
- Edit their own contact profile.
What a customer cannot do
Section titled “What a customer cannot do”- Pay. There is no payment step in the portal. Card payment lives on an invoice’s share link, which you send separately.
- See a statement of account. Statements are produced by you and handed over as a file.
- See internal notes, or any message or file you have not marked as visible to the customer. Everything defaults to internal.
- Reset their own password. There is no self-service password reset — passwords are generated when you enable or reset access, and you pass the new one on.
Getting a customer in
Section titled “Getting a customer in”Portal access is switched on per customer from their record, which generates a password for you to give them. Turning access off stops them signing in again.
